Our Secrets is based on my personal experience and my evolving understanding of the relationship between the body and authority during my upbringing. I gradually came to realize that bodily perception often precedes language, yet we are rarely taught how to recognize or articulate these sensations. Authority frequently presents itself through care and order, shaping our understanding of what is considered “normal” and influencing how we interpret our own feelings. When transgression appears in a rational and legitimate form, it may not be recognized as such, but instead absorbed into silence. If silence persists, it can only remain a secret.
