Among the various definitions of love, director Iven TU depicts the kind of love that crosses gender and race in his short film SAND LAND. Following the innovative psychotherapy, the Sandplay, we gradually piece together the protagonist's traumatic memory of his deceased lover.
With the subtle lighting and sound design, the film captures the touching emotional connections in the same-sex relationship. It is not simply a poetic story about loss and grief, but a therapy itself, guiding the audience to let go of love, with love. As the film comes to an end, a great metaphor of the sand land eventually unfolds.
