The old director Ma Ke was filming a commercial when he unexpectedly recalled the unmade film in his youth.

In memory, Ma Ke recalled when he met producer Li Tong, he wrote a script entitled CLEO, in which the protagonist followed a young foreigner named Obra to find out the truth about his mother's disappearance, only to be drawn into a bizarre love story between Obra and his mother. 

​

In reality, producer Li Tong's daughter Liang Xiao disappeared in the jungle, leaving behind a mysterious camera and several photographs with unknown meanings. Li Tong came to Mr. Yi, a linguist, who told his adventurous encounter with a primitive tribe called LUCY,  which was the key clue to understand the whereabouts of Li Tong's daughter.

In imagination, the young Ma Ke seemed to fall into his deepest dream, where he became an amateur athlete and he met a girl, Liang Xiao, in a football field. The sequence of the classic silent film 'Sunrise' brought him closer to Liang Xiao, and made him slowly aware of the remnants of the love he once had in films. But he gradually realized that love did not need to be cinematic, but was readily available in real life.
 

When the sun begins to rise, three parallel fictions intertwine under one kiss. Ma Ke seems to get a grasp of the most essential of human languages.
