Synopsis
In a wife-murder case, Minato is accused of killing his wife. To uncover the truth, Detective Kawashima questions Minato’s mother, Meiyou. During the interrogation, Meiyou recalls a winter trip to Nagano ten years earlier, when Minato travelled with his father Kohei, Aunt Keiko, and her daughter Sachi to a shrine in the snowy mountains.
In this sacred place, where people come to pray under the gaze of the gods, they also give in to their desires. It is here that Minato first encounters love—and where the seeds of distrust are quietly planted.

Director's Note
This film is inspired by my childhood experience. I witnessed an act of infidelity firsthand, and even years later, I still find it difficult to fully trust a partner. When parents appear to love each other while secretly giving that same love to someone else, what does that do to a child?
For a child who is just beginning to experience love, encountering betrayal so early can leave a lasting mark. How do we learn what love is when our first understanding of it is shaped by betrayal?

Hang Yang
Yang Hang is a second-year graduate student at Nihon University College of Art. His short films use animals as a lens to explore human nature, observing the animal, human, and divine in people and expressing them through cinema. Attentive to overlooked groups and personal experiences, he uncovers reflections on human nature in small, seemingly insignificant events.
